BMC Annual Awards Day

On January 19 we held our annual awards celebration. It is a time for recognition of those on staff who have worked for 10,15 or 20 years and to honor those who have retired during the year. The day started off with a bicycle race. There was a women’s team and a men’s team. In the afternoon there was get together with all the staff for the actual recognition time. It was a time to reflect on the past year, look forward to the coming year, have some fun, recognize staff who had worked for years and those who were retiring, and enjoy some light refreshment.

It seemed that all had a good time and we hope it will be just the beginning of a good year ahead.

Non-Medical Volunteers

Not all our volunteers are involved in medical work. Recently, Herman and Doris Jordan from Tennessee spent 2 weeks doing Bible studies and preaching in villages near the hospital. They reported that over 100 people made professions of faith. This is an important part of our ministry here and we appreciate the help from volunteers like the Jordans, who have been several times over the past few years.

First Volunteer Team of 2008

George and Mary Ann Crouch with team from Charlotte, NCWe enjoyed our first volunteer team of 2008. They were only here about one week, but they helped a lot and gave us a break. Dr. Pratt is a plastic surgeon , Dr. Harston and Dr. Taylor are OB/Gyn. Jane is a nurse anesthetist and Carol is a nurse. George and Mary Ann were the team leaders. They brought a lot of supplies for the hospital and they stayed busy seeing patients and doing surgery.
