Dr. Cindy Shumpert, a Family Practice physician from Rome, Georgia was here from Feb. 29 through March 14. Cindy has been here many times during the past several years and is always a big help. She and her husband, Paul (see earlier post) are also on the Board of the George Faile Foundation. They have been a lot of help in getting supplies and volunteers for the hospital.
William Haun and his wife Heidi were with us for 3 months last Fall. William is selling prints of his photos of BMC and West Africa to raise money for the Faile Foundation. Head over to http://gallery.williamhaun.com/ to have a look at his images.
Also in February we had a large team of volunteers from Clarksville Baptist Church. They have chosen the Bissa people group to work with in presenting the Gospel. Here in our area the Bissa are called Busansi and represent one of the more than 20 different people groups who come to the hospital. Most of the team did evangelistic outreach in the surrounding villages and worked with the hospital chaplains. One of the team members is Dr. Donnie Crawford. He came and helped in the hospital by doing surgery and seeing patients. He worked with some of the residents who were here at the time.
The others on the team were: Bill and Mary Lou Graham, Robert and Velda Fort, James and Carol McCutchen, Roger Freeman (pastor), Frank White, Kevin Brown, William Belew, Bradley Smith, Gloria Rosser and Jared Hodges. Jared is an MK and grew up in West Africa.
